Dear Students and Parents,

    I've had a wonderful year here at Woodland.  I'd like to thank each of you again for the cards, kind notes, and thoughtful gifts you've sent this year!  I've deeply appreciated them. 

    If you are interested in keeping your skills sharp over the summer, please feel free to use the blog and all our favorite sites to review and practice what we've learned in fourth Grade!  You might also find some fun pictures from our travels posted here throughout the summer. : )

   I will be seeing students through Thursday, but they will be staying in their regular classrooms during the last week of school, so they can participate in all the fun end-of-year activities!

Three more days of testing!

CRCT continues on Monday with the test we've all been waiting to take...MATH!  Please plan ahead for Monday.  You'll need to arrive on time, well rested, and ready to do some mathematical thinking!  Be sure you eat a good breakfast.  Don't forget to review your study guides this weekend.

We begin testing on Wednesday, and it is important that everyone arrives prepared to do their personal BEST!  Please eat a good breakfast, get a good night's rest, and plan to arrive on time. Being well rested is essential!!!

The Doll People & Meanest Doll In The World

Words can't say how much we've enjoyed both The Doll People and Meanest Doll In The World!  We ended our study with a graphic organizer that everyone thought was appropriate- paper dolls!  These are just a few of our pictures.

Cool new site!

This week, we started using a cool new site called Study Jams! It has video clips of both math and science, and does an outstanding job of walking through a math problem step by step. Thank you, Mrs. Hinton, for sharing this site with us!

Have you signed and returned the pink letter that went home on Wednesday?

On Wednesday, I sent home the most recent scores from Check Point testing. These scores show your child's strength and weakness in each academic area. In the next 2 weeks, I am planning to focus on each child's area of weakness so they will be ready for the CRCT. Many parents have been asking what tools they can use at home. Here's a list of resources I think will help!

Math and Language Arts: Aps for ipads and iphones (especially those that help with multiplication and division) I spent several hours playing with these last weekend, but I'm sure there are many other apps I have not yet discovered!  (Many were free, and most of the ones I downloaded were less than $3.)

Story Builder (a FAVORITE!)

IXL-   This site offers help that is aligned with Georgia standards.

Woodland PTA ROCKS!!!!

I'm so excited to have received one of the Spring grants from the PTA!  The funds you're providing us with will certainly benefit the children of our school.  Thank you PTA for all you do for us!!!  We appreciate it!

Many parents have asked if I had any additional resources they could use to prepare for the CRCT.  Other than the sites I've listed on specific pages (to the right), and items I've loaded here to download, I do have some apps I've been playing with on my own ipad.  In the next few days, I'll post a list.  I have apps for both reading and math, and most were free.  I'll try to have this together by Wednesday.
